"Beautiful Boxer."
This movie really touched my heart. It’s a poignant action drama that punches straight into the heart and mind of a boy who fights like a man, so he can become a woman. It shows how a boy believing that he’s a girl trapped in a boy’s body since childhood, struggle to fight earning for a living and to achieve his ultimate goal of total femininity. How a boy fighting a larger and more frightening demon outside of the ring than in, struggle to find the inner peace that can change the shape and nature of his body corresponding to what is in his heart and mind.
Beautiful Boxer truly mines the most beauty from an abundance of genuine heart…
It’s definitely a must-see movie. Lead actor Asanee Suwan really did a tremendous job by giving a brilliant and brave performance, both as a shy boy-girl in the masculine, sweaty-body world of kick boxing camp, and as a tormented androgynous star struggling with his sexuality. He almost made me believe that he’s a transvestite and an experienced actor. But the truth is, he’s just a professional boxer with no previous acting experience at all.
He fights like a man to become a woman.
I truly respect her, the real-life Nong Toom.
